Acoustic Gospels Tour – Stroud, Tuesday 25th May 2010

“The Georgian architectured Subscription Rooms in Stroud played host to the Acoustic Gospels on Tuesday 25th. Graham felt much at home, as it was actually in Kendrick Street! What with the Kendrick Street Deli, and the Kendrick Hall as well, it was starting to look like a take-over bid.
Ignition Gloucester were behind the event, an efficient team having been put together by local man Phil Coysh. Another great night ensued, the music and Graham’s introductions being the vehicle to blend old and new story songs from several decades of his catalogue.”
Ignition is back with Graham Kendrick!
After almost 18 months of recharging our batteries, Ignition is back with two events for 2010. The first is an evening with singer/songwriter Graham Kendrick at Stroud Subscription Rooms on Tuesday May 25th 2010 at 7.30pm.
Graham Kendrick is probably the greatest Christian songwriter of recent years and certainly the most well-known modern hymnwriter. Songs like “Shine Jesus Shine” - the UK’s most popular modern hymn - and “The Servant King” are sung every week in churches across the world and Graham’s work is regularly featured on radio and TV - notably the BBC’s “Songs of Praise”. In Stroud he has played on two previous occasions with his band to packed audiences in the Leisure Centre as he has led the audience in singing his ever-popular worship songs. However Graham Kendrick has a whole other side to his music - songs that tell stories, paint scenes on the imagination and bring to life characters and dramas from the Gospels. Performed by the man who authored them, in the acoustic style that suits them best, the songs of “the acoustic gospels” make up a very special concert. Includes “Thorns in the Straw”, “Peter at the Breaking of the Bread”, “Crucified Man”, “How much do you think you are worth?” … and many others.
The evening is sponsored by Ignition Gloucestershire in conjunction with Compassion UK and Premier Radio. Graham will be accompanied by Simon Dennis on bass and Terl Bryant on percussion.
Tickets are £8 and are available in person from The Tourist Information Office, Stroud, by phone on 01453 760900 or on-line at www.subscriptionrooms.org.uk
