Ignition Gloucestershire

Ignition are pleased to be supporting and event managing the Free Family Fun Day at Stratford Park Bandstand on Sunday May 27th from 2.30pm to 5pm.  Hosted by PSALMS and other local community organisations, the afternoon will include music from award-winning international  singer/songwriter Philippa Hanna & band, who will be joined on stage by local favourites The Rebel Cheesecutters and ventriloquist Keiran Powell, winners of the 2012 Door’s Undiscovered Youth Talent Contest.

There will be a Sports Arena, Human Table Football, interactive arts & crafts, bouncy castles, sumo wrestling, parachute games, badge making, craft activities, face & nail painting, balloon modelling, cream teas & cakes, BBQ, Superscoops ice creams and a ‘Tiddlywinks’ Under 5s play area.  They will something for all the family!

The Sports Arena will include Tug-of-War, Water Balloon Volleyball, Badminton Challenge, Croquet, Skittles, Giant Jenga & Chess and Sack Races.

Following on from the very successful Family Fun Days organised by Psalms inside the Leisure Centre, this event will bring the original Family Fun Day concept outside into the park with the addition of live music and more activities in order to bring the community together to celebrate the 2 key events of the summer – the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee.

The event is being organised by PSALMS and supported by Ignition, Tiddlywinks, Activate, Cainscross Messy Church, Churches Together in Stroud , Diocese of Gloucester and Everyone Active as well as Stroud District Council who have awarded us a significant grant to help us make this Family Fun Day bigger and better than ever.

The Stratford Park miniature Railway will also be running for a small charge.

If wet the event will move inside the Leisure Centre.

We’re delighted to be supporting this major event in Gloucester Cathedral on Friday March 16th.

The aim of this event is to draw together young people from across the churches of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire for a fantastic night of music, fun and challenge, with a particular focus on engaging young people for social action.

Ignition is assisting the organisers in providing event management support and we want to strongly recommend this event.  It is a first class line-up of the best of contemporary UK Christian music including Brought into Being, Sounds of Salvation, Chip Kendall (ex ‘The Band with No Name’) and a new ‘supergroup’ Chaos Curb, featuring former members of [dweeb], BOSH, Verra Cruz and others.  We will be having two stages and the highlight of the acoustic stage will be Philippa Hanna who was recently voted Best British Artist at the 2011 Louder Than The Music awards where she was up against well known artists such as Phatfish, Tim Hughes, Rend Collective Experiment & LZ7.

But the event is much more than just a music concert.  There will be workshops, prayer zones, a sports cage, cafe and a number of charities engaging with the young people in the whole sphere of social action, with a special focus on homelessness.  And Steve Clarke, Pioneer Minister for the Diocese of Gloucester, will give a short talk towards the end of the evening.

Known as “The Vicar of Baghdad”, Canon Andrew White has been vicar of St George’s Church in Iraq, since 1998. He is also Chief Executive of The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East, an organisation at the forefront of peacemaking in the region.

Come and hear fascinating tales from this extraordinary man who is in inspiration to thousands around the world.

Worship will be led by the ‘ignition’ band.

Admission is free but as this evening will be a fundraiser for the work of The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East please come prepared to give generously.

Organised jointly by Churches Together in Stroud and Ignition Gloucestershire.

Ignition is sponsoring “The Venue” on March 13th in conjunction with Ministry of Music and PSALMS.

We’re delighted that two up-and-coming Christian bands will be appearing – “Empire Nation” and “brought into being”.

Ignition’s sponsorship enables this gig to be offered free.  Youth groups across the area are encouraged to come together, enjoy the music, worship God and hear the Gospel presented through the music.

“The Venue” is on Sunday March 13th at Stroud Catholic Church Hall, Beeches Green, Stroud, GL5 4AA from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The ballroom of the Sub Rooms was packed and we had to use the balcony – what a great turnout for what turned out to be a fantastic evening with Graham Kendrick,  Terl Bryant (percussion) and Simon Dennis (bass).  Many people saw Graham in a completely different light as he sang songs which told stories from the Gospels,  most of which were either new to the audience or hadn’t been heard for many decades!  The feedback has been excellent.

Many thanks to all who helped make the evening such a success, especially Kay Tanner and her team at the Sub Rooms.  And thanks to you for coming.

We are delighted to announce that Terl Bryant, former drummer of popular Christian band, Iona, and founder of Psalm Drummers, will be guest percussionist at Graham Kendrick’s concert in Stroud on May 25th. Graham will also be joined by bass player, Simon Dennis for a 3 man line-up.

After nearly 18 months recharging our batteries Ignition returns for 2010.

In May Graham Kendrick returns to Stroud for a concert with a difference – a concert not of worship material, but of songs that tell stories, paint scenes on the imagination and bring to life characters and dramas from the gospels.  The Acoustic Gospels is a national tour featuring Graham on guitar/vocals (with Simon Dennis on bass) and we are privileged to host him on May 25th at Stroud Subscription Rooms.
